Tordotcom publishing9/4/2023 ![]() Tor is a word meaning a rocky pinnacle, as depicted in Tor's logo. They were soon joined by Barbara Doherty and Katherine Pendill, who then composed the original startup team. (Baen would found his own imprint three years later). Tor was founded by Tom Doherty, Harriet McDougal, and Jim Baen in 1980. It primarily publishes science fiction and fantasy titles, and is the largest publisher of Chinese science fiction novels in North America. ![]() Tor Books is the primary imprint of Tor Publishing Group (previously Tom Doherty Associates), a publishing company based in New York City. ![]() Martin’s Press, Oxford University Press, and Grand Central Publishing.Forge, Starscape, Tor Teen, Orb, Tordotcom, Nightfire In 20 she was a Chesley Award finalist for Best Art Director. After graduating from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Illustration she has worked in the publishing industry for the past 15 years at St. She has been a panelist and attending professional at Dragoncon and Illuxcon. She has been a guest lecturer at Pratt Institute, the University of the Arts, Visual Arts Passage, SmArt School, and Montclair State University. She has overseen the development of Tordotcom Publishing's covers and marketing since the launch of the imprint in 2015. Christine Foltzer is the Art Director for Tordotcom Publishing, a division of Tor Books, living her nerdy sci-fi dreams.
